어린이 말⋅글 창작동요에 관한 시론(試論) -동요작곡가의 창작사례를 중심으로-

본 연구는 어린이 말⋅글 창작동요의 창작과정을 고찰함으로써 동요의 창작과정에서 어린이들이 처한 현실을 이해하고, 창작동요의 지향점에 대한 제언을 목적으로 한다. 어린이 말⋅글 동요는 작곡가가 어린이들을 직접 만나 어린이들의 말과 글을 수집하여 노랫말을 만들고 곡조를 붙여 만든 동요이다. 작곡가와의 심층면담을 토대로 창작과정을 재구성한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어린이 말⋅글 동요는 ‘어린이의 삶을, 어린이의 언어로, 어린이가 부르는 노래’이며, 이를 통해 자신의 노래를 하고 위로받는다. 둘째, 꾸밈없는 말과 글로 만들어진 노랫말에는 어린이들의 가감없는 삶의 이야기가 담겨 있어 감동을 준다. 셋째, 리듬과 선율에 제한을 두지 않고 어린이의 상황에 따라 다양한 형태의 곡조로 공감할 수 있는 동요를 만든다. 넷째, 동요는 어린이의 삶을 응원하고 생명을 살리는 노력이며, 부정적인 감정을 극복하는 하나의 방편이 될 수 있다. 어린이들이 겪는 입시 중심 교육, 아동학대, 다문화 가정 어린이들이 겪는 소외 등 현실의 문제는 어린이 말⋅글 동요의 노랫말에도 나타난다. 동요 창작과정의 고찰을 통해 동요의 창작방식에 대한 재고와 어린이 문화운동으로서의 창작동요가 재조명되고 어린이의 삶을 바르게 가꾸는 것에 대한 책임감 있는 성찰이 이루어지기를 기대한다. 반면, 다른 동요작곡가의 창작방식과 함께 고찰하지 못한 한계가 있음을 밝히며 향후 다양한 방식의 동요 창작에 대한 비교⋅보충 연구가 이어지기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This study examines the creative process of Children's Speech and Writing Songs. This study aims to understand the realities children face in the process and to suggest directions for creative children's songs. Children's Speech and Writing Songs are created by composers who personally meet children, collect their speech and writings, create lyrics, and set them to music. Based on indepth interviews with composers, the creative process was reconstructed, and the results are as follows: First, Children's Speech and Writing Songs are "songs sung by children, in their own language, about their lives,” through which they sing and find comfort. Second, the lyrics, crafted with unadorned words and writing, convey the unvarnished stories of children's lives, creating a moving experience. Third, nursery rhymes are created without limitations on rhythm and melody, adapting diverse melodies to suit the individual's circumstances and resonating with children. Fourth, children's songs are an effort to support and nurture children's lives, and can serve as a means of overcoming negative emotions. This study focused on the process of creating children's songs, hoping that by reconsidering these creative methods, creative children's songs will be reevaluated as a children's cultural movement and foster responsible reflection on how to nurture children's lives.
