Abstract
This study aims to elucidate the underlying causes of the dispute between Korea and China regarding the registration of intangible cultural heritage of humanity, where it highlights the challenges in distinguishing ownership and understanding the true nature of the chronological relationship within a society experiencing digital transformation. Additionally, the study proposes future plans for fostering gentlemanly coexistence. To achieve this, we first identified the historical flow and domestic efforts for registration in both countries, grounded in an understanding of the relevant system. Notably, Korea has selected 792 items as potential candidates for registration, whereas China has designated 1,556 items. Secondly, as a consequence of analyzing 18,483 video data entries collected using the YouTube search term <cultural dispute>, it was determined that the year during which the cultural dispute, framed as a cultural debate between the two nations, was most prominently featured as a 'title' was 2022. Furthermore, the highest frequency of "comments" occurred in 2021. The cultural disputes reflected in the top 10 keywords illustrate a complex intertwining of history, ethnicity, and culture. Thirdly, based on examining 1,556 Chinese items, we inferred potential future targets of cultural disputes. Among these, the 'Drum Dance' was suggested as a case study in applying for a registration designation and proposed as a model for that future order. Ultimately, the assertion that they are analogous is false; the paper suggests that a more affluent culture can be fostered by honoring and pursuing the variations in their expression while revering humanistic common values.
