이 논문에서 우리는 바울서신에서의 하나님 나라 언급들에 대해바울은 고린도후서 3:18에서 주의 영광을 거울로 보는 것이(katoptrizo,menoi, ‘카토프트리조메노이’)이 ‘변화’(metamorfou,meqa, ‘메타모르푸메타’)를 가져온다고 말한다. 논문은 바울이 이같은 주장할 수 있었던 배경과 근거를 탐구한다. 논문은 3:18의 신학적 배경과그 의미는 묵시 사상가로서 바울이 취한 종말론적 구약 읽기를 고려할 때 적절하게 이해될 수 있다고 주장한다. 이런 주장을 위해 논문은 먼저 하나님과의 종말론적인 대면과 그에 따른 변화를 말하는 유대 묵시문학(『에스라 4서』 7:28-33, 88, 91, 97-98; 『바룩 2서』 25-28, 30, 40-51장; 『에녹 1서』 71장; 『에녹 1서』 90:37)과 시내산 전승(출34:29-35; 민 12:6-8)을 종말론적 전망에서 읽은 랍비 문헌(『미드라쉬 라바 레위기』 1:14)을 고린도후서 3:18의 의미 이해를 돕는 배경본문으로 제시할 것이다. 그런 후 바울이 종말론적 대면과 변화가“주[그리스도]의 영광을” “거울로 보[는]” 신자에게 성취되기 시작했다는 주장을 하기 위해 출애굽기 34:34-35와 민수기 12:8 그리고 에스겔 36:26-27을 어떻게 사용하는지를 주해로 밝힐 것이다. 논문의요지는 유대 묵시문학이 말하는 종말론적 기대가 그리스도 예수에의해 성취되기 시작했다는 이해가 고린도후서 3:18을 해석하는 열쇠라는 주장을 하는 데 있다.
Abstract
Vision(katoptrizo,menoi), according to Corinthians 3:18, causes a transformation of image(metamorfou,meqa). The purpose of the present study is to make an argument that the meaning and intention of Paul’s use of katoptrizo,menoi, metamorfou,meqa is best explained in terms of both the expectations of eschatological transformation found in Jewish apocalyptic literature and Paul’s Christological readjustment of the expectation. First of all, the study attempts to examine various apocalyptic literature(4 Ezra 7:28-33, 88, 91, 97-98; 2 Baruch 25-28, 30, 40-51; 1 Enoch 71; 90:37; Midrash Rabba Leviticus 1:14) and demonstrate that the eschatological expectation that encountering with God at eschaton results in the encounters’ transformation had been made in Jewish apocalyptic literature in the second temple Judaism. Then by focusing on the immediate co-texts(2 Cor 3:12-17; 4:4) and 3:18, we argue that Paul believes that being transformed by eschatological encounter with God has already begun to be realized to those who turn to “the Lord”(Christ). For this argument, Paul compares Moses’s experiences(encounter and transformation) at the old covenant and the believers’s at the new covenant. Paul concludes in doing so that whereas Moses is the only one who is allowed to encounter God and to be transformed by the old covenant, “we”(3:18) all who turn to the “Lord” are capable of beholding(katoptrizo,menoi) the glory of the Lord and being transformed “at the new covenant. Above all, the study demonstrates how Paul fuses key words and concepts from Exodus 34:29-35, Numbers 12:8, and Ezekiel 36:26-27 to argue that eschatological encounter with God and transformation has already begun to be fulfilled to “we”(believers) who behold(katoptrizo,meno) the glory of the Lord.
