정신역동 차원에서 ‘퇴행한 내담자’ 돌봄을 위한 상담자의 과제 연구

초록

인간은 과거와 현재를 동시에 살아가는 능력과 권리를 가진 존재다. 이는 곧 인간에겐 현실 안주라는 안정으로부터 벗어나 성장과 진보의 불안정을 추구하기도 하지만 때론 현재의 불안정을 부정하고 안정과 자기 보호를 경험하기 위해 퇴행할 능력과 권리가 있음을 의미한다. 이는 상담 상황 속 내담자에게 흔히 보이는 증상이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 내담자의 상담자-대상을 향한 과의존으로 인해 상담자는 속수무책의 상황에 빠져 다양한 어려움을 겪는다. 상담을 도구로 돌봄을 실천하는 상담자는 퇴행으로 인해 상담자-대상에게 의존하는 내담자를 어떻게 돌봐야 할지 고민한다. 내담자에게 퇴행은 비인식적 정신 역동에 속하며 자신의 내적 안정과 평안을 위해 비의도적으로 불가피하게 선택한 이기적-자기애적 욕구 실현의 결과다. 하지만 퇴행의 지속은 내담자의 대상관계를 위축시키고 일상을 피폐하게 만든다. 물론 퇴행 현상을 보이는 내담자 역시 대상 의존, 공격성 등 퇴행으로 인해 도출된 증상이 비이성적-비상식적이라는 사실을 인지한다. 그러나 퇴행을 통한 욕구 분출의 용이라는 거부할 수 없는 달콤한 이익은 퇴행과 그에 따른 증상의 지속을 추구하도록 하고 상담자에게로 향하는 의존 성향을 강화시키며 분석 및 돌봄에 저항하기도 한다. 그래서 연구자는 ‘돌봄이 상담을 통한 치유 상황 속에서 한 인간의 발달과 성숙을 위한 창조적 가치를 향상시키는 도구로 기능하기 위해 어떤 요소들이 필요하며, 돌봄 주체인 상담자는 어떤 방법들을 사용해야 하는가?’라는 물음 안에서 ‘퇴행’ 현상을 보이는 내담자로 주제를 한정하여 정신 역동적 관점에서 상담을 통한 돌봄을 이해하고, 이를 바탕으로 퇴행 상태에 있는 내담자의 치유 방향 설정과 상담자 과제 및 돌봄 과정 속에서 겪을 수 있는 위험에 대해 파악하고 이에 대비함을 목표로 연구를 시작하였다.

Abstract

Humans have the ability and right to live in the past and present simultaneously. This means that humans sometimes break away from the stability of complacency and pursue the instability of growth and progress. Still, sometimes, they have the ability and right to deny the current instability and regress to experience stability and self-protection. Counselors often see this symptom in clients. Nevertheless, due to the client's excessive dependence on the counselor, the counselor can feel helpless and experience various difficulties. Counselors worry about how to care for clients who become dependent on the counselors due to regression. For the client, regression belongs to non-cognitive psychodynamics. It results from selfish, narcissistic desires unintentionally and inevitably chosen for the sake of their own inner stability and peace. However, the continuation of regression diminishes the client's object relationships and impoverishes daily life. Of course, clients who show regression also recognize that the symptoms resulting from regression, such as object dependence and aggression, are irrational and nonsensical. However, the irresistible sweet benefit of expressing desires through regression leads to the pursuit of regression. The continuation of the resulting symptoms strengthens the tendency to depend on the counselor and resists analysis and care. So, I asked, 'What elements are necessary for care to function as a tool to improve the creative value for a person's development and maturity in a healing situation through counseling? And what methods should the counselor use? Who is the subject of care?' This is what my paper explores. Therefore, I limited the topic to clients showing a 'regression' phenomenon and viewed care through counseling from a psychodynamic perspective. Based on this, I set a direction for healing clients in a state of regression and discussed the counselor's tasks and risks that may be experienced during the care process. We began research with the goal of understanding and preparing for this.
