본 연구는 한강의 작품이 러시아 문학장의 맥락 속에서 어떻게 의미화되고, 그 의미화가 시기별로 어떻게 달라져 왔는지를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 오늘날 예술 작품의 의미가 작품 자체만의 고정된 것이 아니라, 독자 또는 관객·비평가·세계와의 만남을 통해 드러난다고 할 때, 러시아에서 읽히고 비평을 통해 쓰이는 한강 작품의 의미는 러시아만의 해석으로 새롭게 형성될 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 이 글은 한강의 작품이 러시아에 소개되는 과정을 주요 시기별로 구분하여 정리하되, 번역된 세 편의 작품 『채식주의자』(2017), 『소년이 온다』(2020), 『작별하지 않는다』(2025)를 중심으로 러시아에서 한강이 수용되는 양상을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 다음의 네 가지 축을 통해 검토하기로 한다. 첫째, 문학 제도 차원에서의 수용(출판사, 문학상), 둘째, 비평 담론 차원에서의 해석(폭력, 가부장제, 페미니즘, 고독, 연결, 몸, 침묵, 정의), 셋째, 독자 수용 차원에서의 반응(정서적), 넷째, 시대적 맥락에서 재의미화되는 한강의 창작(전쟁과 검열의 시대적 맥락)이다. 이를 통해 본고는 궁극적으로 러시아에서의 한강 작품의 수용이 제도와 담론, 독서 경험이 상호작용하는 가운데 특정한 의미와 가치가 구성되는 양상임을 밝히고자 한다.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze how Han Kang’s works have been meaningfully framed in the context of the Russian literary field, and how that meaning-making has shifted over time. If we assume that the meaning of an artwork is not fixed in the work itself but emerges through encounters with readers or audiences, critics, and the world, then the meanings of Han’s works as read and written about in Russia can be newly constituted with interpretations specific to the Russian context. With this in mind, the present article distinguishes key periods in the process through which Han’s works have been introduced to Russia and examines patterns of her reception, focusing on three works translated into Russian: The Vegetarian (2017), Human Acts (2020), and We Do Not Part (2025). To do so, it proceeds along four analytical axes: first, reception at the level of the literary field (publishers, literary prizes); second, interpretation in critical discourse (violence, patriarchy, feminism, solitude, connection, the body, silence, justice); third, reader reception (emotional responses); and fourth, the re-signification of Han’s writing within broader historical conditions (the contemporary context of war and censorship). With this approach, the article ultimately seeks to show that the reception of Han’s works in Russia involves the construction of specific meanings and values through the interaction of institutions, discourse, and reading experience.
