지역특화형 비자 제도의 활성화와 지역대학의 역할에 대한 연구: 대구･경북지역 소재 대학을 중심으로

Abstract

This study discussed the role of regional universities in supporting the settlement of foreign students following the introduction of a regional specialized visa system. Regional universities can support foreign students’ permanent stay in Korea in stages (attraction-education-management). To review this, officials from regional universities and foreign students were interviewed in-depth, and support programs for foreign students at universities were analyzed. Important points in the settlement of foreign students were job, start-up, residence, and understanding of culture. The university program improved the settlement conditions of foreign students and led to exchanges and cooperation with regional residents. Based on these results, the role of regional universities was discussed as follows. First, it attracts foreign students and provides customized education. Second, industry-academia cooperation and employment and start-up education support. Third, It is education to support settlement life.. Fourth, improvements in local programs and acceptance. Fifth, cross-ministerial cooperation and policy support are prepared. This study is significant in that it focused on the role of regional universities as a way to revitalize regional-specific visas implemented in a full-fledged immigration society and dealt with them in detail from the perspective of foreign students and stakeholders.
