기술혁신에 대한 R&D투자와 전유성의 역할에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구는 2012년 과학기술정책연구원(STEPI)의 기술혁신조사(KIS)를 이용하여, 기업의 R&D투자와 전유성의 관계를 추정하고, R&D투자와 전유성이 기술혁신에 미치는 영향을 실증분석 한다. 추정결과 첫째, R&D투자는 기술혁신을 보호하는 법적 전유장치와 기업적 전유장치의 확보에 긍정적인 효과가 있다. 둘째, 제품혁신과 공정혁신에 있어서 R&D투자와 법적･기업적 보호장치의효과에 뚜렷한 차이가 나타난다. 법적･기업적 보호장치의 확보는 제품혁신을촉진하며, 기업적 보호장치의 확보는 공정혁신을 촉진한다. 또한, R&D투자가활발한 기업에서 기술혁신이 발생할 가능성이 매우 높다. 본 연구는 지금까지 국내에서 활발하게 진행되지 않은 기업의 전유성에 대해 연구함으로써 그 중요성을 알린다.

Abstract

This study uses the 2012 Korea Innovation Survey of Korea’s Science and Technology Policy Institute to examine the relationships between R&D investment and the appropriability of intellectual capital held by companies. It further undertakes an empirical analysis of the impact of these factors on innovation. The findings show that when R&D investment is actively carried out, the securing of legal and corporate protection devices has a positive effect in promoting technological innovation. R&D investment and legal-corporate protection devices are also shown to be important determinants of technological innovation. Finally, a clear difference is displayed between the effects of legal-corporate protection devices on product innovation and process innovation. It is also shown that process innovation occurs in companies making active R&D investments. This study therefore demonstrates the importance of appropriability. This approach has not been actively pursued in Korea.
