Abstract
South Korea has succeeded in the development of a mobile broadcasting system T-DMB, which led to the first commercial mobile TV services in Seoul metropolitan area in December, 2005. It was the meaningful breakthrough escaping from the customary dependence upon the foreign technologies in the broadcast. T-DMB R&D Project started in 2002 aiming for the global diffusion as well. The T-DMB team, consists of Korean MIC, ETRI, broadcasters and manufacturers, prepared the efficient diffusion strategies to overcome its weaknesses, such as low brand name, no experience and poor funds. Undergoing the drastic change of the global mobile TV market environment, the danger and opportunity are strengthen at the same time. It urges us to reinforce the strategies, funds and biz models. The commercial success of the T-DMB in the domestic market also have to go with.
