『마르크스와 마르크스주의들을 다시 생각한다』에 대한 본 서평에서는 이 책의저자 무스토가 MEGA2에 대한 면밀한 검토를 통해 [1844년 경제학·철학 수고]나[그룬트리세] 등 마르크스의 주요 저술에 대한 기존의 해석들과 『자본론』 제2권 및제3권에 대한 엥겔스의 편집 작업이 지닌 문제점 등에 대해 전개하는 비판적 논의를 살펴본다. 이를 통해 제2인터내셔널과 제3인터내셔널, 마르크스-레닌주의를 거치며 교조적 경전으로 왜곡된 마르크스의 이론이 철두철미하게 비판적이고 끊임없이 논거를 모색하는 열린 텍스트로 이루어졌다는 점이 강조된다. 또한 본 서평은무스토가 마르크스의 저술에 대한 해박한 문헌학적 지식과 마르크스의 학문적 원칙에 충실한 비판적이고 균형 잡힌 시각을 통해 기존의 교조적이고 독단적인 입장을예리하게 비판할 뿐만 아니라, MEGA2의 발간이 제기하는 거대한 해석적 과제와새로운 고민들을 던져준다는 점도 부각한다. 다른 한편 무스토가 마르크스의 정치경제학 비판을 서술하는 방법에서 그 시작을 이루는 구체물로서의 ‘상품’이 지닌추상적 성격을 이해하지 못함으로써 빠지는 혼란의 문제점이 지적된다.
Abstract
Marcello Musto, the author of Rethinking Marx and Marxism, criticizes theconventional interpretations of Karl Marx’s important works like the“Economic-Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844” and the “Grundrisse:Foundations of the Critique of Political Economy(RoughDraft)” and the editingwork of Capital Volumes 2&3 by Friedrich Engels. Musto shows that the theoryof Marx is composed of completely critical and open texts which continuouslygrope for the grounds of their arguments, whereas the Second and ThirdInternationals, along with Marxism-Leninism perverted Marx’s theory into adogmatic canon. Musto not only sharply criticizes conventional doctrinairepositions on the basis of a profound philological knowledge of the writings ofMarx, but he also raises the huge interpretative challenges that the publicationof MEGA 2 poses. However, Musto fails to understand the abstract character ofa commodity as a concrete thing at the beginning of “The Critique of PoliticalEconomy” so he falls into an interpretative confusion.
