이 글은 ≪마르크스주의 연구≫ 지난 호(2010년 겨울호, 통권 20호)에 실린 김공회의 서평[필자가 번역한 『자본』(도서출판 길)에 대한]에 대한 답글이다. 김공회는필자의 번역본이 ‘원전 번역’의 ‘문헌적 의미’를 충분히 살리지 못했다는 요지로본문과 해제 그리고 대본의 문제를 차례로 검토하였다. 이 글은 김공회의 글이 애초출발점에서 ‘문헌적 의미’에 대한 잘못된 이해에서 출발하여 논의의 방향을 잘못잡았다는 점을 지적한다. 이로 인해 본문에 대한 그의 검토가 구체적인 논점을 찾지못하였고 용어와 오역, 옮긴이 주에 대한 문제제기는 번역 경험의 차이와 예상 독자에 대한 판단 차이 때문에 발생한 문제라는 점을 밝힌다. 해제는 『자본』 전체의 해석 문제와 관련된 것으로 국지적인 사항들을 문제로 삼을 일이 아니라는 점을 지적하였다. 번역 대본의 문제는 애초부터 이 문제가 필자 자신에 의해 스스로 제기된것이라는 점을 밝히고, 김공회가 아직 미처 알지 못하는 MEGA 작업의 내용을 일부소개하여 앞으로의 연구에 도움이 되도록 하였다.
Abstract
This paper is a response to Gong-Hoe Gimm’s paper published in the last issue of Marxism 21 (vol. 7, No. 4). Gimm’s paper examined Korean edition of Karl Marx’s Das Kapital translated by me and argued that this edition was not scientifically meaningful from the view point of the text, my own ‘Introduction’and the original text. Firstly this paper points out that Gimm’s argument took the wrong way from the starting point because of the lack of understanding on the philological meaning in general. And then it shows that Gimm’s argument on the text was originated in the difference of the career of translations. Again, it explains that my own ‘Introduction’ is deeply related to understanding and interpretation on the whole system of Das Kapital, therefore proposes that Gimm’s argument on my own ‘Introduction’ had better be substituted for an special text like my own book(Their Economy, Our own Political Economy,2010, Gil), not particular arguments. Lastly this paper confesses that the problem of the original text(MEW or MEGA) argued by Gimm was introduced into Korea by me as a public event from the first and adds the inside facts on the work of Marx Engels Gesamtausgabe(MEGA) unknown by Gimm partly for the future research.
