최근 마르크스 연구의 새로운 흐름은 후기 마르크스 사상의 혁신적 측면을 MEGA 로 출간되고 있는 자료들을 이용하여 변경혁명, 커먼, 물질대사 등의 개념을 중심으로 재구성하는 것이다. 이 글에서 검토한 마르셀로 무스토, 폴 자렘브카, 사이토 고헤이 각각의 책들은 강조점의 차이에도 불구하고 후기 마르크스 사상이 오늘날 마르크스주의 혁신의 지렛대가 될 수 있음을 보여준다. 무스토는 말년의 마르크스가러시아 등 비서유럽 사회 공동체들의 연구를 통해 변경혁명론을 채택했으며, 동시대 마르크스주의자들과 거리를 두었음을 보여준다. 자렘브카는 MEGA를 이용하여말년의 마르크스가 『자본론』 1권의 개정 작업을 지속했음을 보이고, 이는 엥겔스의판본들로는 읽어낼 수 없는 후기 마르크스의 역사관 및 경제이론의 중요한 전환을반영하는 것이라고 주장한다. 사이토는 후기 마르크스의 포스트자본주의 사상이 고차원에서 커먼의 부활을 핵심으로 하는 탈성장 코뮤니즘으로 전환했음을 입증하고, 이를 오늘날 기후위기의 대안으로 구체화했다. 이 책들은 모두 21세기 마르크스주의의 혁신과 재건을 위한 야심적 시도들로서 향후 심화된 연구를 촉발함으로써 마르크스 사상의 현재화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
The new trend of the research on Marx in recent years is to reconstruct the innovation of the late Marx’s thoughts, focusing on the ‘revolution at the margins’, commons, and metabolism, using the new materials published in MEGA . New books of Marcello Musto, Paul Zarembka, and Kohei Saito, reviewed in this article, show how the late Marx’s thoughts could be tapped as the new sources for the innovation of Marxism. Musto chronicled that Marx in his last years was distancing himself from contemporary Marxists by pursuing the possibilities of the revolution at the margins, based on the studies on the commons in non-European societies. Zarembka demonstrated that Marx’s continuing revision of Volume 1 of Das Kapital reflected an important shift in his view of history and economic theory in his last years, although it cannot be read from Engels’ editions. Saito argued that the late Marx’s theory of post- capitalism advanced from the eco-socialism to the ‘degrowth communism’, centering on the revival of the commons on a higher level. Moreover, Saito concretized the ‘degrowth communism’ as an alternative to today’s climate crisis. All the books reviewed are essential contributions to innovate and rebuild Marxism in the age of Anthropocene.
