바우어와 그로스만의 공황론 비판

초록

바우어와 그로스만은 동일한 표식으로부터 자본주의의 발전과 붕괴에 관한 상이한 결론을 끌어내었을 뿐 아니라 표식론으로부터 공황론의 전개도 전혀 상이하였다. 하지만 양자 모두 동일한 표식의 공통의 오류에 입각해 있다는 점에서, 양자의표식론과 공황론은 근본적으로 모두 잘못된 것이다. 바우어는 표식론으로부터 직접공황론을 전개하지는 않고 현실경쟁론을 매개로 하여 공황론을 경기순환론으로서발전시키고자 했지만, 표식론과 공황론의 분석수준의 차이를 올바로 인식하지 못했다. 무엇보다 자본일반과 현실경쟁의 방법론적 구별을 강조한 그로스만은 정작 공황론의 전개에서 양자의 추상수준을 완전히 혼동하고 표식론 차원에서 공황론을전개하였다. 바우어는 한편에서는 표식으로부터 축적과 노동인구 사이의 주기적 불균형으로부터 주기적 공황을 설명하는 노동력 부족설을 제시하였고, 또 다른 한편에서는 표식에서의 생산부문 간 불균형으로써 주기적 공황을 설명하고자 하였다. 바우어에게서 양자를 통합하는 공황론은 볼 수 없다. 그로스만은 표식에서의 이른바 붕괴경향을 이윤율의 경향적 저하법칙으로 각색해서 해석하였고, 공황 또한 이법칙의 관철에서 비롯되는 것이라며 이윤율저하설을 제출하였다. 그러나 정확하게말하면 바우어 표식에 입각해 있는 그로스만의 공황론은 이윤율저하설도 아닌 것이었다. 나아가 그로스만에게는 ‘붕괴론=공황론’이었고, 축적경향(붕괴)과 산업순환(공황)을 제대로 구별하지 못하였다.

Abstract

Bauer and Grossmann used the same reproduction scheme to drew opposite conclusions regarding the development and breakdown of capitalism and the crisis theory. However, both of their theory of accumulation and crises misunderstand Marx’ reproduction scheme and its level of abstraction. The key point of Marx’ crisis theory is that his reproduction scheme, belonging to the ideal average of capital, represents only a ‘abstract theory of realization’, whereas overproduction crises develop at the level of real competition. Although Grossmann placed the greatest emphasis on this methodological aspect, his crisis theory was constructed directly at the level of capital in general, which confused the tendency of break down and industrial cycles. Moreover, contrary to his position, the alleged overaccumulation theory of crisis has no relation to Marx’s law of the falling rate of profit. In contrast, Bauer tried to develop the theory of industrial cycles by further ascending to the level of real competition, but did not properly consider supply and demand changes and price movements in the analysis of the industrial cycle. Bauer explained cyclical crises from the disequilibrium between the accumulation of variable capital and population growth on the one hand, and from the disproportionalities between production sectors on the other hand. Bauer did not attempt to synthesize the two crisis theories. Neither Grossmann nor Bauer recognized the object of the theory of real competition in Marx’ original plan of the critique of political economy that is beyond the scope of Capital, e.g. the mechanism of a cumulative formation of overproduction hidden by the excess demand in the boom and its explosion into crises
