바우어-그로스만 표식의 혼란과 오류

그로스만의 표식은 바우어 표식에 입각한 것인데도 표식의 결론은 양자가 완전히상이하고 대립적이었다. 통상적 평가에 따르면 바우어는 이론적·정치적으로 투간바라노프스키, 힐퍼딩을 잇는 조화론의 전통에 있고, 그로스만은 룩셈부르크를 잇는 붕괴론을 대표한다. 그러나 통상적으로 이해하는 것과 달리 바우어의 표식은 균형표식이 아니라 불균형표식이며, 따라서 그 표식으로부터 조화론을 논증할 수 있는 것이 아니다. 바우어 표식을 계승한 그로스만은 바우어 표식의 이런 문제를 전혀인식하지 못했고 단순히 표식을 연장함으로써 조화론을 극복할 수 있다고 믿었다. 그뿐만 아니라 그로스만은 완전고용 축적을 나타내는 바우어 표식의 붕괴를 어이없게도 자본주의의 붕괴와 종말로 해석함으로써 붕괴론 논쟁을 극적으로 희화화했다. 이런 관점에서 보면, 문제는 조화론과 붕괴론의 대립이 아니라 바우어도 그로스만도 자신의 표식의 오류를 올바로 인식하지 못해 양자의 결론, 즉 조화론과 붕괴론은모두 잘못되었다는 것이다. 또한 통상적 이해와 달리 그로스만의 붕괴법칙이 마르크스의 이윤율의 경향적 저하법칙에 입각한 것도 아니다. 그로스만의 붕괴법칙은단지 바우어의 재생산표식으로부터 끌어낸 것이다.
Abstract
The theoretical and political results of Grossmann’s scheme are known tooppose those of Bauer’s, though the former scheme bases itself on the latter. According to convention, Bauer follows the harmonist tradition in the debateabout Marx’s reproduction schemata, while Grossmann, in contrast, representsthe theory of the breakdown of capitalism. The purpose of the article is to showthat this convention is wrong: no balanced accumulation can be proved fromBauer’s scheme. Bauer himself didn’t recognize this, and Grossmann claimedto be able to overcome the harmonist idea of Bauer by simply extending Bauer’sscheme to longer periods. In addition, Grossmann wrongly interpreted thecollapse of accumulation after 34 periods in Bauer’s model that merely impliesthe accumulation of capital with a reserve army as representing the breakdownof the capitalist system. Grossmann’s law of breakdown was developed on thebasis of Bauer’s scheme, but not on the basis of Marx’s law of the tendency ofthe rate of profit to fall.
