이질적 현상들의 복합 위기를 뜻하는 다중 위기의 상황은 코로나19 바이러스로 인한 팬데믹을 기점으로 지구 행성적 재난으로 본격화되고 있다. 이 글은 ‘비인간전회’를 통과해 다중위기상황에서 새로운 정치적 이행을 모색하는 행위자(actor)와 그 연결을 살핀다. 글의 구성은 다음과 같다. 우선 비인간 전회의 의미를 짚고, 브루노 라투르의 행위자 네트워크 개념을 해러웨이가 제안한 광학적 기구가 행하는 회절(diffraction)과 연결하여 설명한다. 행위성은 다양한 행위자들의 행위의 중첩과 얽힘 그리고 연결에 따른 것이라는 점에서, 간섭의 패턴으로서 회절이라는 개념과 연관한다. 이러한 회절은 바라드의 양자적 이해를 통과해 중첩과 얽힘 그리고 전유할 수 없는 타자들의 간섭한 패턴으로 구체화된다. 바라드는 이러한 얽힘이 타자화의 흔적에 얽매여 있는 관계이기에 다른 것과 얽혀 있는 의무의 관계를 드러낸다고 설명한다. 바라드는 특히 회절의 특징은 모호성과 미결정성을 강조하며 이분법적 사유를 넘어서 인간 행위자와 비인간 행위자 연결을 강조하는 회절의 정치의 가능성을 제시한다.
Abstract
The situation of multiple crises, which refers to the compound crisis of heterogeneous phenomena, is in full swing as a global planetary disaster, starting with the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus. This article examines the actors and their connections in the search for new political arrangements in the context of multiple crises through the “non-human turn”. The article is organized as follows. First, the meaning of the non-human turn is explained, and Bruno Latour's concept of networks of actors is linked to Haraway's idea of diffraction in optical instruments. Since agency depends on superimposing, entangling, and connecting the actions of different actors, he relates the concept of diffraction as a pattern of interference. This diffraction passes through Barad's quantum understanding and materializes as a pattern of superimposition, entanglement, and interference from non-appropriable others. These entanglements, Barad explains, reveal relations of obligation that are entangled in traces of othering and thus entangled with otherness. In particular, Barad emphasizes the ambiguity and indeterminacy that characterize diffraction, suggesting the possibility of a politics of diffraction that moves beyond binary thinking and emphasizes the connections between human and non-human actors.
