Abstract

The main idea of this thesis is to find out the strategic approach to knowledge management in the school. Learning has traditionally been defined as a process by which individuals gain new knowledge that result in a change of action. Knowledge management is a strategic way to learn well in an organization. Learning in the organization can occur at three levels-individual, group/team, and organization. According to survey research, most teachers in Korea studied hard at individual level. But at group/team and organization level, learning seldom occurred. The information and knowledge about teaching methods, managing a class and counseling techniques should be communicated well. Learning at individual level has a limitation. Learning at group/team and organization level is needed to communicate each other. We can call it Knowledge Management that every teacher holds knowledge and information in common. In this thesis, I am trying to find out the strategic approach to adapt knowledge management to school. In order to adapt knowledge management to school, it needs to be supported by five sub-systems. Those are Learning system, Structure system, Human Resource system, Knowledge system and Technical system. But the most important factor of implementation is that all teachers share vision and participate in knowledge management project voluntarily.
