저소득가정의 부모교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과검증

Development and Effectiveness Evaluation of a Parent Training Program for Low Income Families

초록

빈곤으로 인한 가정의 스트레스 모델은 부모의 경제적 스트레스가 양육태도와 아동발달에 부정적으로 영향을 미침을 설명하고 있다. 저소득 가정 아동의 건강한 발달을 위하여 저소득 가정 부모에 대한 사회적 지원과 더불어 스트레스 대처와 양육태도에 관한 교육과 개입이 긴요한 시점이다. 본 연구에서는 관련 문헌연구, 요구분석, 전문가 인터뷰 등을 토대로 부모 스트레스관리, 아동의 행동변화를 위한 행동수정, 아동의 정서능력 향상을 위한 감정코치가 저소득 가정 부모교육 프로그램의 주요소로 선정되었다. 이러한 주요소를 기반으로 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하기 위해 전국 4개 지역의 드림스타트센터에서 스트레스관리, 감정코치, 훈육방법을 주요소로 하는 7회기 부모교육 프로그램이 실시되었다. 실험집단 31명, 통제집단 29명의 저소득가정의 부모가 연구에 포함되었으며, 양육스트레스, 양육효능감, 부모-자녀 상호작용, 부모의 아동 조절을 측정하는 검사가 프로그램 전과 후에 시행되었다. 프로그램 효과검증을 위해 t-test와 공분산분석을 통한 통계적 방법과 프로그램 평가지와 평가회의 결과 분석이 이루어졌다. 본 연구에서 개발된 저소득층 부모교육 프로그램은, 첫째 통계적으로 유의미한 부모 양육효능감 증가, 부모의 아동 감정조절 능력 증가, 부정적 훈육행동의 감소를 가져왔다. 둘째, 프로그램 참여자들은 90% 이상이 프로그램의 적합성, 유익성, 용이성 등에 만족스럽다고 보고하였다. 셋째, 프로그램 지도자들 역시 프로그램의 적절성, 실용성, 기여도에 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 부모교육 프로그램은 양적, 질적인 평가결과 전반적으로 저소득층 부모의 양육태도 개선에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 판단된다. 마지막으로 연구의 의의, 제한점 그리고 후속연구를 위한 제언이 논의되었다.

Abstract

Family stress model illustrates the negative effect of parents' economic stress onto parenting style and to children's internalized/externalized problem behaviors. The purpose of this study was to develop a parent training program for low income families with a preschooler, and to test its effectiveness. 7-week parent training program including stress management, emotion coach and discipline skills training was developed on the basis of literature review, needs analysis, and expert consultation, and was operated at a Dream Start center in 4 different cities. 60 parents from low income families were participated(31 for experiment group and 29 for control group). As to test the effectiveness of the program, both statistical analysis with control group and the analysis of program evaluation questionnaire were adopted. The results are as follows; First, the parent training program for low income families developed in this study appeared to significantly improve participants' parenting efficacy, regulating skills, and discipline behaviors. Second, overall 90% of the parents, who participated in this program, rated the program highly on the end-of-program satisfaction surveys. Third, program leaders reported that they were satisfied with the contents and the procedures of the program. Overall, the parent training program developed in this study appeared to positively affect parenting behaviors among low income families. Suggestions for future studies and programs are discussed.
