대학입학 전형요소와 대학 학업성취도와의 상관관계에 관한 연구

대학의 입학전형 방법에 따라 선발된 학생의 특성이 달라 질 수 있으며, 이에 따라 다양한 학생들을 포용할 수 있는 교육과정과 방법들이 필요할 것이다. 본 논문에서는 학생의 질적특성을 학업성취도로 보고, 취득학점평균을 학업성취도의 척도로 선택하였으며. 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 대학입학전형요소를 크게 대학입학 전 변수와 입학시험요소로 구분한다. 그 결과 대학입학 전 변수인 석차백분위와 평어평점은 학업성취도와 깊은 관련성을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 영역별 대학수학능력시험성적은 인문계는 제2외국어, 외국어, 사회탐구영역, 자연계는 과학탐구와 외국어영역의 성적이 학업성취도와 관련이 있음을 알 수 있다. 특히 모집단위 중 최상위학과라 할 수 있는 의예과와 약학부는 언어, 수리, 외국어영역 성적이 대학 1학년 과정에서의 학업성취도와 밀접한 관련있는 것으로 분석되었다. 마지막으로 인문계에서만 시행된 논술의 경우 입학년도와 모집단위에 따라 학업성취도에 미치는 영향이 달랐으며 법학과인 경우는 논술에 의한 학업성취도가 미약한 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
University admission procedures significantly affect the quality of the students admitted. It is this researcher's assertion that appropriate methodology needs to be employed according to the subject applied for. In this thesis scholastic performance is the quality measure of the student and Grade Point Average (GPA) as the specific measure of scholastic ability. The key factors considered in admissions procedures were identified as unique variables before admission determined through the entrance examination. Results demonstrated that pre-existing variables had a significant correlation to performance. For Humanities and Social Science applicants there were certain areas of strong correlation, but for the Natural Science applicants these areas were different. The scores on the entrance essay examination of Humanities and Social Sciences applicants resulted in different levels of correlation to scholastic performance varying according to the department. For the Law department, there was a negative correlation between the examination score and scholastic performance.
