한국어 문법의 발견 학습 모형 및 활용 연구 - ‘-(으)니까’의 과제 사례를 중심으로

그동안 한국어 교육 현장에서는 주로 PPP 모형을 중심으로 ‘도입-제시-설명-연습-사용’의 틀 안에서 문법 항목의 의미를 가르치고 이를 어떻게 사용하는지를 다루었다. 이 모형은 한국어의 특징과 한국어 문법 교육의 현실에 맞는 방안으로 널리 활용되어 왔다. 하지만 교사에 의해 주도적으로 이루어지는 ‘도입-제시-설명-연습’의 과정이 학습자에게 내재적으로 습득이 되어 자연스럽게 ‘사용’되기까지는 어려움이 있다. 이는 문법 교육의 최종 단계가 ‘사용’에 초점이 맞춰져 있기는 하지만 ‘산출’에 비해 ‘입력’과 ‘이해’가 충분히 다루어지지 못하고, 의미 제시와 형태 제약 등의 설명이 다소 교사 중심적으로 일방적으로 이루어져 온 것이 주요한 원인이라고 본다. 즉, 목표 문법이나 문형을 사용하기 위해 학습자 스스로 규칙을 발견하거나 앞뒤 맥락이나 어휘 정보 등을 탐색하는 과정은 소극적으로 다루어졌으며, 초급에서 제한적인 문법 학습을 했더라도 다양한 의미를 내포하고 있는 한국어 문법의 구체적인 의미 기능에 대해 중고급 이상에서 다시 다루는 경우가 많지 않았다. 이러한 문제의식을 가지고 본고에서는 다소 자유롭지 못하고 닫혀 있는 수동적인 문법 교육 현장에서 학습자들이 문법 형태를 직접 탐구하고 발견하는 교수법이 적극 활용되어야 함을 주장하고자 한다. 또한 한국어교육 실정에 맞는 문법의 발견 학습 방안을 찾기 위해 국내외 교수법 연구를 확인하고 한국어 문법 발견 학습 모형을 구축하고 이를 활용할 수 있는 다양한 과제를 제시해 보고자 하였다.
Abstract
Up until now, Korean language teachers in the classroom have taught the meaning of grammar items and dealt with how to use them in the framework of ‘introduction-presentation- explanation-practice-use’based on the PPP model. This model has been widely used as a method that fits in with the characteristics of the Korean language and the reality of Korean grammar education. Nonetheless, there is a difficulty in which learners learn the process initiated by a teacher through an intrinsic method, and ‘use’ grammar items naturally. One of the main reasons for such difficulty seems that the process where learners find grammar rules by themselves or explore the context and lexical information to use target grammar or sentence structures has been covered passively, and the intermediate and advanced levels rarely deal with a specific function for meaning in Korean grammar, which has a variety of connotations, even though learners have learned some degree of grammar in the beginner level. With this problem in mind, this article attempts to examine studies on pedagogics in Korea and around the world to find a way to learn and discover grammar under the circumstances of Korean language education, establish a learning model to discover Korean grammar, and present some tasks to use the model.
