Abstract
Cultural policy research has been performed by scholars from various research backgrounds. Cultural studies have provided substantial knowledge in the relevant policy process, and have also opened up new possibilities to be linked with practical academic fields of research. Public administration, economics, and management studies have contributed to the expansion of academic interest in arts and culture. However, there is skepticism that the only common denominator for all these attempts will be the ‘field’of research. This paper will examine the past findings and arguments imbedded in major disciplines that adopt cultural policy as a subject theme. By doing this, I intend to illustrate how cultural policy research should take its stand in doing interdisciplinary work.
