고등사고능력 국내연구 동향 분석: 영재교육 연구방향에 대한 논의

초록

본 연구는 1970년대 이후 2018년까지 약 40여 년 간 국내에서 진행된 고등사고능력에 관한 학술적 논의가 얼마나, 어떻게 발전되어 왔는지 체계적으로 분석함으로써 교육 현장에서 고등사고능력을 신장시킬 수 있는 정보들을 제공하고 미래의 연구방향을 제시하는데 목적을 두었다. 연구동향의 분석은 교과영역, 연구 대상, 연구설계에 따라 시기별 논문 수와 논문을 제시하였으며, 고등사고능력에 영향을 미치는 수업방법, 프로그램은 어떠한 것이 있는지 검토하였다. 분석 자료는 ‘고등(적) 사고’, ‘고급(적) 사고’, ‘고차(적) 사고’, ‘Higher Order Thinking’ 4개의 키워드를 사용하여 국회도서관, 학술연구정보서비스에서 제공하는 논문 총 283편을 추출하였다. 이 중 동일 연구자에 의해 게재된 유사 논문을 삭제한 후 118편의 논문을 정리하였다. 이를 분석한 결과 국내 고등사고능력 연구는 1971년에 처음 다뤄지기 시작했지만 이후 20년간 소강상태를 보이다가 1991년 다시 시작되어 점차적으로 증가되었고 2004년-2005년에 최고 정점을 찍고 다시 감소되는 경향을 보였다. 사회과 영역, 중학생 대상, 질적연구가 다수를 차지하였으며 학생들의 자발적 참여가 요구되는 문제중심형 수업, 웹기반수업, 논쟁수업 등이 고등사고능력에 긍정적 영향을 주는 수업 방식인 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

The current study was conducted to examine degree to which and the way how academic discussions on Higher-Order-Thanking (HOT) skills have been developed in Korea for last 40 years from 1970 to 2018, to provide information applicable to educational field, and to suggest future study directions. Researchers reviewed the number of papers over time varying by the subject domain, participants, and research design, and further investigated kinds of instruction methods and programs that were likely to influence HOT as those collected literature suggest. Four keywords of “Advanced thinking”, “High-class thinking“, ”High-level thinking“, and ”Higher Order　Thinking“ were used to search for the relevant papers and ended up extracting 283 research papers publisehd in Korea. Of those extractied papers, we deleted those produced multiple times by the same researchers or the papers seemingly identical each other, and the final collection was composed of 118 papers. We found the research has begun in 1971, but the study was a lull for two decades. The study has been re-started and grown since 1991, and finally tend to peak during the period of 2004-2005. Then, the research was decreasing later on. Overall, research for social studies, middle school students, and qualitative research methods occupied a majority of the publication. Our reviews concluded that those instructions calling students’ spontaneous participations such as problem-based instruction, web-based learning, discussion-based instruction were found positively affecting students’ development of HOT.
