모바일 메신저 기반의 교사-부모 의사소통에 대한 교사의 인식 연구

초록

본 연구는 교사들이 모바일 메신저를 활용한 교사-부모 의사소통에 대하여 가지는 인식을 면담을 통하여 탐색하였다. 연구참여자는 서울, 경기 지역 유치원과 어린이집 교사 중 경력이 2년 이상이며 모바일 메신저를 현재나 과거에 부모와 의사소통을 위하여 1년 이상 사용한 경험이 있는 교사 5명으로 구성되었다. 자료수집은 각각 면담과 메신저 내용 분석으로 이루어졌다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모바일 메신저를 통하여 부모와 의사소통을 하는데 있어, 연구참여 교사들은 모바일 메신저가 편리성, 관계형성, 그리고 친근한 교사상 형성에 도움이 된다고 보았다. 둘째, 연구참여 교사들은 모바일 메신저가 업무부담, 사생활 침해, 전문적인 교사상 영향 등의 어려움을 가져온다고 설명하였다. 이러한 결과는 연구참여 교사들이 자연스럽게 모바일 메신저를 현장에서 부모와 사용하면서도, 그 적절한 활용법에 대한 명확한 개념을 형성하지 못한 것을 시사한다. 모바일 메신저 사용에서 오는 업무부담, 사생활 보호, 전문적 교사상 확립을 위한 논의와 가이드라인의 필요성이 제기되었다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore teachers' perceptions of using mobile messenger based teacher-parent communication. Research participants included 5 teachers from the Seoul, Kyung-gi Province, with experience in teacher–parent communication using personal mobile messenger. The researcher collected data by using face-to-face interviews and message screen capture samples. The study results indicated the following: Participant teachers recognized the potential advantages of mobile messenger use including adding convenience to teacher-parent communication, contributing to the development of relationships between teachers and parents, and creating a more approachable image of teachers. Participant teachers also perceived that mobile messenger based teacher-parent communication could increase teacher workloads, create privacy issues, and detract from teachers’ status as respectable figures. The study results indicate that the research participants are having difficulty in establishing an appropriate mobile messenger communication model with parents. Use of mobile messenger needs to be integrated with specific guidelines addressing teacher work hours, and issues of privacy, and teacher image.
