교과외 활동으로서의 법교육 방안 탐색

그동안 학교에서의 법교육은 교과 교육과정, 그중에서도 사회과목을 중심으로 이루어져 왔다. 교과중심 법교육은 학교에서 안정적으로 법교육이 이루어지는데 크게 기여하였으나, 학생들의 흥미와 수요를 고려한 다채로운 교육을 실시하기에는 한계가 있었다. 법교육을 통한 법의식 함양이 효과적으로 이루어지기 위해서는 교과외 활동으로서의 법교육이 보다 활성화될 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 교과외 활동으로 활용할 수 있는 여러가지 법교육 프로그램들을 유형화하여 살펴보았다. 특강(외부인사 초청, 법관련 기념일), 법동아리, 기관 탐방, 또래 상담, 학생자치법정 및 학급자치법정, 방과후 학교 등의 법교육 프로그램에 대한 검토를 토대로, 교과외 활동으로서 법교육이 활성화되기 위한 방안에 대해 모색하고자 하였다. 시민교육이라는 측면에서, 교과 활동과 교과외 활동으로서의 법교육은 상호 보완적 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 교과외 활동으로서의 법교육 프로그램이 갖는 가능성을 인식하고, 이를 극대화할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 것이 필요하다.
Abstract
Meanwhile, the law-related education in schools has been done on a subjects curriculum, especially focused on social studies. The law-related education on the subjects curriculum has contributed to manage the law-related education continuously, but it has limited to conduct a diverse education in which students' interest and needs are considered. In order to cultivate a legal consciousness effectively by the law-related education, it is necessary to vitalize the law-related education as extra-curricular activities. In this study, various programs on the law-related education are investigated by categories, which they can be utilized as the extra-curricular activities. On the basis of examining special lecture, law related education club activity, visiting organization, peer mediation, Korean teen court and after school program, it is tried to seek ways to vitalize the law-related education as the extra-curricular activities. In terms of a civic education, it is expected that the law-related education as the extra-curricular activities is complementary to one as the curricular activities. Therefore, it is necessary not only to recognize the possibility of the law-related education programs as the extra-curricular activities but also to seek ways to maximize them.
