초록
본 연구는 일본과 한국의 은행 지수와 ESG(Environmental, Social, Governance) 지수 간의 상호 영향 관계를 실증적으로 분석하였다.
Abstract
This study empirically investigates the mutual influence between bank indices and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) indices in Japan and Korea. Using monthly time series data from January 2010 to December 2023, we conducted unit root tests, cointegration tests, Granger causality tests, vector autoregression (VAR) analysis, impulse response functions (IRF), and variance decomposition. The results indicate that ESG indices significantly affect bank indices in both countries, with the Korean banking sector exhibiting higher sensitivity to changes in ESG indices. Bidirectional causality between ESG and bank indices was confirmed, and shocks to ESG indices were found to substantially impact the volatility of bank indices. This study provides empirical evidence that ESG management plays a crucial role in enhancing the sustainability and stability of the financial industry, offering practical implications for future policy making and financial strategies.
