Abstract
This study intends to investigate the growth and decline of the ancient city of MachuPicchu from Inca civilization, unknown to the outside world over 400 years until Bingham has found it in 1911. The road system so called the King Road of Inca extended over 40,000 km was the vital infrastructure for the unification and integration made Inca’s military conquer possible over the land so easily. Bingham was known to be the first excavator for MachuPichu, but another theory tells that German adventurer had illegally excavated it forty years before Bingham. The estimated population size in its peak days was over 10,000 across its hinterland. At least, Central area has been inhabited by one or two thousands population with 200 households. Terrace-formed cultivated field, so called ‘Andenes’, made it possible to feed population even with limited size of land.
