複合動詞「V+つく」の多義性について ―意味的側面からみた原則を中心に―

Abstract

This paper aims to clarify the principles related to the polysemousization of the compound verb "V + つく(thuku)" from the semantic aspect. The target words are 19 words of the "V + つく(thuku)" type. They have both physical and psychological usages. In particular, we focused on whether they were “conscious” or “unconscious” among the semantic features in the previous section. The usages to which the polysemous words belong include the physical usages of “maintaining the contact state” and “movement”, and the psychological usages of “desire” and “fixed idea”. Based on this consideration, the following was clarified: First, when the previous paragraph of physical usage is “conscious”, it shifts to psychological usage of “desire” which expresses an active mental attitude to the outside. Then, it was found that in the case of “unconsciousness”, there is a principle of shifting to a “fixed idea” in which one's thoughts are restrained by being acted on from the outside. Second, it was confirmed that when the principle is applied, the central meaning of the previous paragraph has a strong influence, and when it deviates from the principle, the derived meaning is reflected.
