우리나라 주요 도시의 사회집단별 거주지 분리 특성과 변화 양상

초록

본 연구는 우리나라 주요 대도시의 사회집단별 거주지 분리의 특성과 변화양상을 탐색하였다. 전통적인 국적, 소득에 따른 거주지 분리뿐만 아니라 최근 부상하는 1인가구의 공간적 집중 문제를 살펴보기 위해 외국인, 저소득층, 청년 1인가구, 노인 1인가구의 네 사회집단을 대상으로 상이지수와 고립지수 2가지를 활용하여 2010년과 2019 년의 공간적인 분리 정도를 측정하였다. 네 집단 중 외국인의 거주지 분리 정도가 다른 집단에 비해서 상대적으로강하게 나타났으며, 청년 1인가구의 분리 정도 역시 높은 편이었다. 또한 외국인은 수도권 도시, 저소득층은 비수도권 도시, 노인 1인가구는 도농통합 형태의 도시들에서 상대적으로 분리 수준이 높게 나타났다. 2010년과 비교할 때2019년에는 대부분의 도시에서 네 집단 모두 인구비중이 증가함에 따라 상이지수의 감소, 고립지수의 증가 양상을띠면서 거주지의 공간적 균질성은 높아진 반면 집단의 사회적 고립 정도는 강화되고 있음을 확인하였다.

Abstract

This study explores the characteristics and changes of residential segregation by social groups in major cities of Korea. In order to investigate both traditional and current issues of spatial segregation, the study sets up four social groups; foreigners, low-income groups, young single-person households, and elder single-person households, and assesses the degree of spatial segregation in 2010 and 2019 by employing the index of dissimilarity and the index of isolation. The result shows that the degree of spatial segregation of foreigners is relatively stronger than that of other groups, and the degree of segregation of young single-person households is also high. In addition, a relatively high segregation level is shown in the metropolitan cities, non-metropolitan cities, and urban-rural consolidates cities for foreigners, low-income groups, and elder single-person households, respectively. Compared to 2010, a decrease in the index of dissimilarity and an increase in the index of isolation of four groups are identified in most cities with the growth of the proportion of these groups in the total population in 2019. This result explains the isolation of four target groups has been strengthened while the spatial homogeneity of the whole residential area has been enhanced.
