The purpose of this paper is to find syntactic restrictions of tense in Middle ages Korean. This paper can be summarized as follows. ① In the predicate of nominal clauses, only completion tense ‘-아시(앗)-’ can be inserted. ② In the predicate of ‘-ㄴ’adnominal clauses, four tenses (definitive tense ‘-으니-’, present tense ‘--’, reminiscent tence ‘-더-’, completion tense ‘-아시(앗)-’) can be inserted.. ③ In the predicate of ‘-ㄹ’adnominal clauses in the 15th century, only future tense ‘-으리-’ can be inserted. But in the 16th century, not only future tense but completion-futury tense ‘-아시리-’ can be inserted. ④ In the predicate of adjective clauses in the 16th century, only completion tense can be inserted. ⑤ In the 15th century’s connective clauses, future tense can be inserted most freely. But in the 16th century, completion tense can be inserted most freely more than future tense.
