Abstract
There are many poverty factors in sub-Saharan Africa, but one of the most serious problems is political corruption. In terms of the World Transparency Organization(2015), African countries' Corruption Perceptions Index(CPI) in 2015 is significantly lower than in other parts of the world. In particular, the CPI of sub-Saharan African countries have 32.7, which is significantly lower than the world average of 42.6, with 42.5 for the Asia-Pacific countries and 40.5 for the Americas. According to Mauro (1995), political corruption is to hinder investment and economic growth. In addition, private investment in Africa is lower than in other regions, suggesting that such political corruption is a major factor in the economic downturn in Africa. FDI inflows are also restricted due to political corruption, and infrastructure expansion and improvement are limited. In this research, based on the above contents, I analyzes the effects of prevailing political corruption in Africa on the influx of FDI and ODA, which is the driving force of African economic growth.
