Abstract
This article examines the U.S. missile defense system from Bush to Obama, to Trump administration in a case study research. This article finds that the U.S. missile defense system has improved and expanded by deploying an initial capability for homeland defense, by improving regional defense to address regional threats, and by formulating 'integrated, multi-layered' missile defense system to win its strategic competitors as well as missile threats. We closely examine the implications of the U.S. missile defense system for East Asian security, and then pursue a long-term strategy for missile defense.
