초록
Appellatives are nouns of name which, as complement of a naming verb, form a verb phrase with the verb and its object (e.g., name the boy Ben). Despite lack of the literature, the complement could be assumed to constitute either a complex predicate with the verb or a small clause with the object. This paper argues for the complex predicate account suggesting one way of dealing with the pro-form so (e.g., Ben is so named and so-named Ben) and close apposition (e.g., the name Ben). It also proposes an analysis of the unit as a construction that is stored in the lexicon as a template with a constructional meaning and is fused with an appellative noun and a naming verb therein.
