Abstract

This study argues that considering personal happiness can bridge a gap between distrust and high performance. Aim to proper explanation about true relationship between government performance and government trust, we tackle the point that the citizen's performance evaluation to trust formation are passing through subjective perceptual lens. Using the Seoul metropolitan survey (2013) of Open Data System, this study examines the effect of government performance on the citizen's degree of public institution trust. Our empirical results indicate (1) that higher performance induces more trust. And (2) when include subjective wellbeing and unhappy experience as a moderator variable on the analysis, we confirm personal subjective condition effect on determining the degree of public institution trust Happier citizens trust government more but we can not confirm statistically significant impact of moderators on trust.
