인턴제 교육실습에 대한 질적 연구 -국가 수준 교육실습 교육과정에 대한 시사점-

본 연구의 목적은 중등학교 교육실습 현황에 대한 비판적 인식을 바탕으로, 교육실습의 내실화를 이루기 위한 방안으로서 실습기간 4개월(실제 실습일수 9주)로 구성된 ‘인턴제 교육실습’ 프로그램을 설계하고, 이 모형의 효과를 탐색하는 것이다. 연구자는 실습학교 교사진과 함께 교육실습 운영의 근간이 되어 줄 「교육실습 수행표준」및 「교육실습 표준 운영매뉴얼」을 공동 개발하였고, 이를 실제 교육실습에 적용한 후 그 실행 과정에 대한 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 요약하면 인턴제 교육실습은 기존의 4주 교육실습에 비해 크게 다음 세 가지 측면에서 개선된 측면을 보였다. 첫째, 교육과정 표준에 기초한 인턴제 교육실습 경험이 교실수업에 대한 인턴 교생들의 안목을 훨씬 더 넓혀주고, 궁극적으로 수업 전문성 함양 면에서 커다란 효과를 보였다. 둘째, 기존 4주 실습 교육과 비교할 때, 교생과 지도교사 간에는 교사의 일상 업무에 관한 아주 높은 수준의 의사소통 및 협력이 유지되었다. 셋째, 실습지도교사 역시 인턴제 교육실습 참여를 통해 반성적이고 자기 치유적인 보상 경험을 얻을 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 교육실습의 내실화를 위해서는 교육실습 기간의 확대와 더불어, 국가 수준의 교육실습 교육과정(또는 운영 매뉴얼)이 제정될 필요성과 아울러, 교육실습 협력교사의 자격 요건 강화 및 교육실습 협력교사에 대한 인센티브 제도 마련이 시급히 요청됨을 시사하고 있다.
Abstract
This study explores the educational consequences of the ‘Internship Teaching Practicum’ which had been implemented for 4-month period (9 weeks of actual training days) in a local collaborative high school. Based on “Student Teaching Performance Standards” and “Student Teaching Manual” co-developed by cooperating teachers and university researchers, the Internship Teaching Practicum was implemented and monitored. Compared to the previous 4-week teaching practicum program, in sum, the alternative program exhibited three key characteristics; 1) student teachers having a more comprehensive perspective on and capability of the management of classroom instruction; 2) a high level of communication and cooperation between the intern and the cooperating teacher; 3) cooperating teachers having reflective and self-healing psychological rewards through their interactions with the student teachers. The findings of this study suggest the urgent need for expanding the practicum period more than 4 weeks, for the establishment of the standards for student teaching at the national level, and for the development of the incentive system and in-service teacher education programs for both cooperating teachers and schools.
