Abstract
The Bongbong Marcos government, which enters its second year in power in 2023, is rapidly moving away from the policy stance of the former Duterte government. In addition, the ruling coalition with the Duterte camp is showing an early crack. The economic policy of the Bongbong Marcos government is not much different from that of the former Duterte government. The Bongbong Marcos government seeks to take care of the people's livelihood by stabilizing consumer prices, and actively promote large-scale state-led infrastructure projects to drive economic development. In terms of foreign policy, alliance diplomacy that centered on the U.S. is being strengthened, and the relation with China deteriorates due to intensifying disputes over maritime sovereignty in the South China Sea. President Bongbong Marcos’ assumption of power lead the Philippine political and social atmosphere from an authoritarian to a liberal one. The public support measured by the popularity survey in the Philippines affects the incumbent president’s political power and regime stability in various ways. The existence of still popular former President Duterte and his daughter Sarah Duterte is a factor that might destabilize the Bongbong Marcos regime.
