초록

In this study, the flow characteristics and temperature reduction performance of a mixing tube for an Infrared Signal Suppression (IRSS) device were investigated through numerical analysis, depending on the shape of the mixing tube. A numerical method, validated by experimental data from a nozzle–mixing tube setup, was used to evaluate the suction and mixing performance of the mixing tube with respect to various design parameters, including nozzle-to-tube distance, diameter, length, and temperature. As the nozzle-to-tube distance increased, the suction flow rate also increased. When the mixing tube diameter increased, the suction flow rate initially increased, then slightly decreased, and increased again, indicating transitional behavior. This phenomenon can be explained by the development of jet flow through the mixing tube, due to the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of mixing tube and the inner wall effect of the mixing tube according to a diameter. Additionally, it was confirmed that increasing the length of the mixing tube slightly increased the suction flow rate, but the effect was minor. These results indicate that the internal flow within the mixing tube exhibits complex jet flow characteristics rather than simple pipe flow. On the other hand, when the temperature of the fluid entering the mixing tube increased, the suction flow rate also increased, although the degree of mixing remained low. It was also confirmed that mixing performance was more strongly influenced by tube diameter than by suction flow rate.
