In this paper, the purpose of a study is to evaluate the vibration characteristics of the reduction gear for mounting naval vessels and to present new vibration standards based on it. The reduction gear is one of the core propulsion systems of naval vessels, and vibtarion generated by high-speed rotation according to various conditions in the marine environment affects the performance, durability, and crew safety of the ship. However, the existing classification standards do not clearly present specific vibration standards for reduction gears for naval vessels-mounted reduction gears, and overall research on vibration characteristics is also insufficient. To solve this problem, this study first identified the applicability of the current standards by comparing and analyzing major domestic and foreign classification standards. Subsequently, the vibration data of the reduction gear generated by naval vessels were collected and compared with the existing classification criteria to identify the vibration characteristics. In addition, a new vibration standard for the reduction gear was presented. Through this, it is expected to play an important role in securing the shaft integrity of naval vessels and maintaining the long-term performance of the reduction gear.
