초록

기업의 재무변수는 자본의 미래 투자수익에 관한 정보를 포함하고 있을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 1980년부터2013년까지 기간에 대하여, 미국의 항공운송기업 총 291개 표본을 대상으로 패널 벡터자기회귀(VAR) 모형을 사용하여 항공운송 기업의 영업이익과 투자기회(Tobin’s Q)가 자본적 지출에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 또한 충격반응함수(impulse response function) 분석을 통해 한 설명변수(영업이익과 투자기회) 의 변화에 대한 다른 결과변수(자본적 지출)의 반응에 대해 살펴보았다. 재무변수의 동태적 관계에 대한분석결과, 자본적 지출과 영업성과, 투자기회의 관계가 유의하게 나타났다. 즉, 항공운송 기업의 영업이익의증가는 단기적 자본적 지출 증가에 영향을 미치고, 긍정적인 투자기회가 자본적 지출의 증가에 장기적인효과를 가지는 것으로 분석되었다.

Abstract

Corporate financial variables may contain information about future returns to capital. This paper explores the capital expenditures of aviation firms in the context of the Q-approach, which plays a dominant role in corporate investment approach. The analysis is based on the US aviation firms’ statements of financial positions statistics. The panel data set contains 291 aviation firms’ statements of financial positions data covering the years 1980-2013. We investigate the predictions of our model by estimating the effect of investment, Tobin’s Q and ROA using a vector autoregression, and obtain evidence supporting the dynamic relationship among the financial variables by using a panel-data VAR framework.
