『現代漢語詞典』(이하 『現漢』)은 중국어 표준어인 보통화 규범을 보급하는 것을 목적으로 편찬된 사전이다. 본고는 『現漢』의 변천을 살펴보며 언어 규범을 반영한 ‘언어 사전’ 편찬의 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 중국에서는 1900년대 초부터 현대중국어 언어 규범을 제정하기 위한 노력이 시작되었고, 1949년 ‘보통화’라는 이름으로 표준어를 대중에 보급하게 되었다. 이를 효과적으로 보급하기 위해 언어 규범을 담은 사전인 『現漢』의 편찬이 기획되었다. 본고는 지금까지 출간된 총 7개의 판본에 실린 ‘일러두기’를 통해, 사전 구조에 영향을 미친 항목을 위주로 수정 보완된 내용을 살펴보았다. 특히, 발음 정보, 어휘 사용역 정보, 어법 정보 방면에서 판본별로 『現漢』의 처리 현황과 변화 과정을 비교하고 분석하였다. 시대를 거듭하며 개정된 『現漢』은 언어 규범을 따르면서도 언어 실제를 반영해야 하는 두 가지 임무를 적절히 수행하기 위해 부단히 노력하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 결론적으로, 규범성을 갖춘 사전은 언어 규범을 반영하는 것을 원칙으로 하되 사용 목적에 따라 구성 체계와 원칙이 강화되어야 사전의 권위성, 상용성도 유지할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
The study aims to examine the changes in the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary and explore the direction of the compilation of language dictionaries that reflect language norms. The Chinese standard language, known as Putonghua, has been made available to the public since 1949, and the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary was compiled with the purpose of disseminating this language. The study compared the Explanatory Notes in the seven editions of the dictionary and analyzed the revised and supplemented contents, with a particular focus on items that influenced the dictionary. The study also examined the processing status and changes for each edition in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary usage, and part of speech. The findings of the study suggest that the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary has undergone revisions over time and not only follows language norms but also strives to reflect language reality. This is an essential characteristic of language dictionaries, as they need to accurately represent the language that people use. The study's focus on the changes in the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary highlights the importance of keeping language dictionaries up-to-date and reflective of current language usage.
