본 사례 연구는 대학교 신입생이 대학생활의 원활한 적응을 위하여 시행하는 다양한 활동들의 효용성에 대하여 살펴보고 바람직한 방법을 모색하기 위함이다. 그 활동에는 대학차원의 신입생 오리엔테이션이나 전공탐색과 생애설계를 위한 교과개설 그리고 학과 및 학생회차원의 새내기교실이나 예비대학 운영 그리고 학생 워크샵(흔히 MT라고 칭함) 개최 등 여러시도들이 있다. 그럼에도 이는 신입생이라는 수요자의 측면 보다는 활동을 운영하는 주체인대학이나 학과 그리고 학생회 관점의 접근이라는 점에서 재고해 볼 필요가 있다. 본 연구는D대학교 C학과 1학년 신입생의 사례를 중심으로 학생의 관점에서 각종 활동들의 효용성을평가해 보고, 그 개선책을 제안한다.
Abstract
This Case Study is conducted to analyze the benefits of various adaptation activities for the first-year students in universities (hereinafter referred to as the “freshmen”) and to seek adequate method in facilitating the freshmen’s adaptation to university life. The adaptation activities includes, but not limited to, orientation programs, major exploration and life plan curriculum organized by university, and newcomer classes, pre-university programs and student workshops organized by departments and/or student council. However, the above-mentioned activities need to be reconsidered since they adapt an approach from the supply-side (university, departments and student council) who operates those activities rather than the demand-side (the freshmen). This study evaluates the benefits of various activities from the perspective of the freshmen and proposes improvement measures focused on the cases of freshmen of C Department in D University.
