유의어 학습은 올바른 어휘 사용 및 어휘력 확장을 위하여 매우 중요하나, 일반 사전만으로는 유의어에 대한 유용한 정보를 얻기 어렵다. 유의어 학습을 위해서는 유의어 목록을 제시하는 것만으로는 충분하지 않으며, 각 유의어들의 어휘 정보를 제공해야 한다. 유의어 사전 편찬의 필요성은 많은 연구들에서 강조되어 왔지만 충분한 어휘 정보를 제공하는 유의어 사전은 부족하다. 일부 사전이 출판되어 있지만, 목록만을 제공하는 사전이거나, 등재 어휘 수가 매우 제한적이라는 한계가 있다. 본 연구는 대규모 유의어군을 수록하고 말뭉치 데이터 분석에 기반한 어휘 정보를 기술한 새로운 학습자용 유의어 사전의 모형을 제시하고, 여기에 수록할 공통 정보와 변별 정보에 대하여 논의하고자 한다. 또한 학습용 한국어 유의어 사전 편찬을 위한 유의어의 개념과 유의어군 설정 범위를 논의한다.
