생산성 변화의 구조적 요인분해 한국의 광공업을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 기업규모별 총요소생산성의 증가율의 구조적 분해를 통해 광공업 전체의 총요소생산성 증가율에 있어 효율적인 자원배분(efficient resource allocation) 과 기업규모 내 생산성 향상 정도가 각각 어느 정도의 기여를 하였는지 살펴본다. 분석결과에 따르면, 1980년대 이후 광공업 전체 총요소생산성 증가율은 자원배분의 효율성을 나타내는 기업군간 생산성 변화부분보다는 기업군내 생산성 변화부분에 의해 거의 전적으로 설명되고 있다. 2000년대 들어서도 광공업 전체의 생산성 향상에 있어 기업군간 생산성 변화의 효과는 미미한 상황이고 여전히 기업군내 생산성 향상 정도가 중요한 역할을 한 것으로 나타난다. 2000년대 중반 이후 구조적 부담가설의 증거가 약해지거나 반대로 구조적 이득가설의 증거가 발견되기는 하지만 전체 생산성 증대에서 차지하는 효과는 미미하였다.
Abstract
This study focuses on the productivity analysis by firm size in the mining and manufacturing industries in Korea. In particular, it investigates the contributions of the efficient resource allocation across different firm size groups as well as of the specific productivity improvement within specific firm size group on the aggregate productivity, using Peneder(2002)’s structural factor decomposition. According to the empirical results, the aggregate productivity growth has been explained almost entirely by the within-group effect rather than the inter-group effect one since 1980s. Even if the evidence after the mid-2000 is lacking to support the structural burden hypothesis and supports the structural bonus hypothesis, the contribution of productivity change across different firm size group on aggregate productivity improvement is still marginal.
