Abstract
To flourish over the long sustainability most companies need to maintain a variety of innovation efforts. Innovation is a collective endeavour with a duality of ‘exploration’ and ‘exploitation’. Balancing the paradox between the two is the key to improving team performance. The literature has proposed that an ambidextrous team deal with team performance. The purpose of this paper is to explicate the influence team ambidexterity on team performance. In addition, it was empirically verified that team ambidexterity through exploration and exploitation at the team level has a positive effect on team performance and that team-member exchange has an important moderating effect on their relationship. As a result of this study, team ambidexterity measured by the combination of team exploration and exploitation showed a significant effect on team performance. Second, team-member exchange is very important to improve team performance. As a result of verifying the moderating effect of this variable, it was confirmed that team-member exchange has a moderating effect when team ambidexterity is high.
