박은식 格物致知說의 近代的 含意

Abstract

Korean Modernity is developed by the close influence of the Western modern Civilization. Especially Modern natural Sciences have great effect to dismantle of the Sung Confucianism’s perception of the nature. So Objectivity is translated Western Science as the science of Ko-Wu Chih-Chih. But though the terminology is similar, but it is different from the philosophical meaning. Because Sung Confucianism is based on the thought of one between heaven and man(天人合一) value judgement and fact judgement has the organic relation but natural science is based on natural science perception. Then intellectuals conceived western culture as the result of the development of science, so they tried to accept western natural science. But western natural science used as the instrument of the western militarism. Park Eun Sik thought Sung Confucianism didn’t adequate roles as the spirit of the time, so tried to solve these problems by analyzing Wang Yangming as the modern method. He recognize the western natural science as Learning by Seeing and Hearing(見聞知), but he regarded this scientific knowledge didn’t solve the moral knowledge. So he granted Learning by Seeing and Hearing (Learning by Morality, he tried to solve the problem raised by accepting the natural science.
