본 연구의 목적은 쌓기 놀이 영역에서 유아가 블록으로 구성물을 만들기 전에 ‘집 만들기’에 대한 사전 설계를 하고, 사진을 활용한 교사의 비계설정 교수방법을 적용한 후 포트폴리오로 평가하는 블록구성놀이에 대한 교육적 의미가 어떠한지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구의 대상은 B시의 D 유치원의 만 5세 유아 25명이며, 2011년 5월 9일부터 7월 15일까지 10주 동안 관찰과 교사면담의 방법을 사용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 근거이론 접근법과 Lincoln과 Guba의 내용 분석방법에 의해 분석되었다. 본 연구의 결과 다음과 같은 교육적 의미를 발견할 수 있었다. 첫째, 자신의 구성물에 대한 반성적 재검토를 통해 문제해결하기, 둘째, 일치 및 변형에 대한 지식구성하기, 셋째, 블록 구성물을 확장시키고 변화시키는 도구로서 사진 활용하기, 넷째, 블록구성물을 평가하고 재구성하도록 돕는 포트폴리오의 가치 발견하기, 다섯째, 공동 목표 상기를 위한 협상능력 도구로서의 사전설계그림과 사진 활용하기, 여섯째, 블록 구성물을 창의적, 심미적으로 표현하기이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study identifies and delineates the educational value involved in each step of ‘Build a House,’ a constructive play activity with blocks that utilizes pre-drawing, teacher's scaffolding with photos, and portfolios. The subjects of the study were 25 children, all five years old, from D kindergarten. The study lasted 10 weeks, from May 9th ,2011 to July 15th, 2011. Data collected through observations and interviews were analyzed, using a qualitative methodology. The results of the study demonstrate how each ‘Build a House’ activity contributes to the development of higher-level critical/creative thinking skills: 1) reflecting upon constructs to develop problem solving skills, 2) developing the concept of consistency and change, 3) using photos as a tool to elaborate and change block constructions, 4) developing a method by which to reflect and critique through the use portfolios, 5) learning to turn conflicts into navigational opportunities to collaborate and achieve a goal, 6). Expressing and developing creativity and aesthetic sensibility through constructing with blocks.
