본 연구는 쌓기놀이의 주제 및 관련 소품을 제시하였을 때 3세 유아의 쌓기놀이가 어떻게 이루어지는지 관찰을 통해 알아보았다. 쌓기놀이의 진행과정과 상호작용 양상은 질적 분석을, 놀이지속시간, 참여 유아수 등은 양적 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 첫째 주제 제시에 따른 쌓기놀이는 주제에 대한 협의 및 구성물 계획하기를 포함하는 ‘시작’, 구성하기, 구성물로 놀이하기, 재구성하기를 포함하는 ‘전개’, 그리고 평가와 정리를 포함하는 ‘마무리’로 진행되었다. 둘째, 참여 유아수는 ‘세차장‧정비소’ 주제에서 가장 많았으며, 놀이 지속시간은 ‘유치원․주택․정비소’ 주제에서 가장 길었다. 남아가 여아보다 쌓기놀이에 더 많이 참여하고 놀이 지속시간도 길었다. 구성물은 주제 진행에 따라 점차 정교해졌다. 셋째, 쌓기놀이에서는 협의하기, 함께 구성하기, 극화놀이하기, 공유하기, 갈등 및 갈등해결 등의 상호작용이 나타났다. 따라서 주제 및 관련 소품의 제시가 3세 유아의 쌓기놀이를 활성화한다고 결론지을 수 있다.
Abstract
This study examined the process and the characteristics of three-year old children's block play with particular play themes and related materials through participant observation methods in a private kindergarten. Results showed that children's block play proceeded from the beginning stage to developing and finishing stage. Play theme such as 'a car wash and repair shop' attracted relatively more children. In terms of length of play, no significant difference was found among play themes, but the block play with the theme of 'kindergarten, house, and repair shop' tended to last relatively longer than other play themes. Boys tended more participated in block play than girls and their play time lasted more than the girls'. The building structures became more sophisticated as a theme-related play proceeded. Children showed a various interaction patterns including negotiations, cooperative constructions and social dramatic play with the structures they built, sharing play experiences, and conflict resolutions during block play.
