시를 이용한 질적 연구 경험으로의 초대

질적 연구의 글쓰기는 특수한 사회적, 역사적 맥락에 위치하고 있는 연구자의 주관성을 반성적으로 인식하고, 연구자와 연구 참여자, 맥락과 자료가 엮어내는 생성의(becoming)의 관계에 대한 주의 깊은 탐색을 수반한다. 근래 유아교육 분야에서 질적 연구에 대한 관심과 연구가 증가하고 있는 반면 실험적이고 창의적인 글쓰기 시도는 매우 부족하였다. 이러한 간극을 개선하기 위해 이 글은 포스트모던 관점에 기초하여 질적 연구에서 시의 표현 양식을 활용하는 실험적 글쓰기를 시도하였다. 시를 이용한 연구 자료의 표현은 글쓰기 과정에서 반영된 지식구성의 잠정성과 특수성을 드러내려는 것이었다. 이를 위해 본인이 이전에 수행했던 질적 연구 경험을 재방문하여 연구자의 위치성과 면담 과정에서 체험된 관계 맥락을 성찰하고, 연구 자료의 일부를 두 편의 시로 변환하여 재구성하였다. 시를 이용한 글쓰기는 텍스트가 지닌 다의적이고 중층적인 의미를 탐구하고, 능동적 의미구성과 열린 해석을 이끌어내는 상호텍스트의 공간을 제공하였다.
Abstract
Qualitative research writing involves recognizing that the researcher’s subjectivity is located within a particular historical and social context, and carefully examining the developing relationships between the researcher and the research participants, the research context, and the data. Though interest in qualitative research is on the rise, few studies have explored experimental creative forms of writing in early childhood education. To fill this gap, this paper adopted a postmodern perspective, using poetry as an experimental form of writing the qualitative research analysis. I revisited my experiences during the qualitative study, reflecting on my positionality as researcher and on my role in the interview relationship and then composed two poems using the interview transcripts. As a result, I found that representing qualitative research findings through writing poems highlights the situational, tentative nature of the knowledge construction embedded in the process of qualitative research writing. In sum, poetic representation is an inquiry aimed at exploring complex, multidimensional voices in text, offering a space for intertextuality that embodies active meaning construction and free interpretations.
