칸트는 『판단력비판』 §9에서 감정과 판단의 관계, 즉 감정이 판정에 선행하는지, 아니면 판정이 감정에 선행하는지를 묻고 있으며, 이 물음에 대한 해결이 취미판단을 규명하는 열쇠라고 말한다. 아름다움의 감정을 판단 활동과의 연관 속에서 고찰하려고 했던 칸트의 의도를 고려할 때 이를 명시적으로 제기하고 있는 §9의 이러한 물음에 주목할 필요가 있다. 이 글에서는 『판단력비판』 §9의 해석을 두고 진행된 인과론적 독해(P. Guyer)와 지향론적 독해(H. Allison과 H. Ginsborg) 간의 논쟁에 초점을 맞추었고, 이 논쟁을 현대감정논의에서 제기되는 두 가지 쟁점, 즉 감정은 신체적 느낌(bodily feeling)인가, 그리고 감정은 지향성(intentionality)을 갖는가와 연관해서 조명해보았다. 쾌의 감정과 취미판단의 관계에 대한 인과론적 독해는 칸트 철학 논의와 현대감정논의에 비추어 볼 때 그 설득력은 제한적일 수밖에 없다. 『판단력비판』에서 칸트가 감정들의 현상학적 차이를 부정하지 않는다면, 그리고 아름다움의 쾌감을 취미판단과 분리해서 고찰하지 않는다면, 그러한 감정은 지각적 특성보다는 인지적 특성을 갖는다. 이때 아름다움의 쾌감은 감정들 중에서도 특화된 감정, 즉 자기의식적 감정으로 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
In Critique of Judgement §9, Kant raises the issue concerning the relation between emotion and judgement, that is, whether emotion precedes judgement or vice versa, and mentions that this issue is the key to the judgement of taste. Given that Kant intends to illuminate emotion of beauty associated with activity of judgement, and the issue makes it explicit, we needs to notice the issue. This article focuses the debate on the interpretation of Critique of Judgement §9, that is, the dispute between the causal reading(P. Guyer) and the intentional reading(H. Allison and H. Ginsborg), and tries to view this dispute from two issues which contemporary debate on emotion raise, that is, whether emotion is bodily feeling and has the intentionality. A causal reading about the relation between pleasure and a judgement of taste is less persuasive concerning Kant's text and contemporary debate on emotion. When Kant does not negate the phenomenological differences of emotion in Critique of Judgement, and does not seperate pleasure from a judgement of taste, such emotion does not have perceptional but cognitive property. Then pleasure of beauty is able to be seen as specialized emotion, that is, self-conscious emotion.
