미에 관한 판단도 아프리오리한 종합 판단일 수 있음을 발견한 칸트는 『판단력비판』에서 취미 판단의 연역, 즉 취미 판단의 필연적 보편타당성의 근거를 밝히고 있다. 그런데, 취미 판단의 보편타당성은 필연적이기는 하지만 주관적이라고 하는 조건이 달려 있다. 그것이 시사하듯이, 칸트가 취미 판단을 연역하는 방식, 또 그 방식의 내용을 이루는 범위, 나아가서 그러한 방식에 의한 연역의 성부에 관한 해석가들의 논쟁이 이어져 왔다. 하지만 우리가 칸트에 의한 취미 판단의 연역을 문제시하기 위해서는, 무엇보다 우선 취미 판단이 과연 어떠한 판단인지를 해명하지 않으면 안 될 것이다. 취미 판단도 인식 판단과 마찬가지로 아프리오리한 종합 판단이라고 할지라도, 전자는 후자와 미묘하게 다른 근거를 가지며, 또한 전혀 다른 방식으로 내려지는 판단이다. 그러므로 이 글은, 취미 판단의 연역을 둘러싼 문제들의 원천, 즉 여타 판단들과 구별되는 취미 판단 바로 그것의 고유한 성격을 밝힘으로써, 그 고유성이 취미 판단의 보편타당성의 증명 불가능성과 결부되어 있음을 드러내고자 한다.
Abstract
Kant found that the judgment about the beauty also can be a kind of synthetic a priori judgment, thus he attempts to deduce the judgment of taste in the Critique of the Power of Judgment. However, the universal validity of the judgment of taste is limited to the subjective. This implicates that there has been controversy surrounding the method to deduce the judgment of taste, the range of its contents, and the success or failure of the deduction by it. Instead of going directly into the problems of Kant’s deduction of the judgment of taste, we should first understand that what kind of judgment the judgment of taste is. Nevertheless the judgment of taste is also a synthetic a priori judgment alike the judgment of cognition, the former has different ground and the way of judging from the latter. Therefore, this paper tries to clarify the peculiarity of the judgment of taste. This clarifying will lead us to reveal the connection between the peculiarity of the judgment of taste with the impossibility of proving the universal validity of that judgment.
