김혜순 시의 “죽음” 이미지와 보편성의 문제 - 『죽음의 자서전』, 『날개환상통』을 중심으로

Abstract

This article examines the various characteristics of the “death” images in Kim, Hye-soon's poems, focusing on the issue of universality in terms of ontological transition and a truth-event. The "death" images, which are widely scattered in Kim, Hye-soon's poems are not limited to biological death, but also contain complex semantic instruments and significant social-political implications. The "death" images in her poems not only penetrate different semantic domains that are distinguished by dimension of 1) femininity 2) minority 3) creativity, but also serve as the nucleus of images that implicitly express them. Specially this article focused on discovering and interpreting the “death” images and diverse variations of those in the subsequent collection of poems, [Pain of Wing Fantasy] along with [Autobiography of Death] that could be recorded as a world-class literary achievement and a event of Korean literary history. They were considered to be a valid object through which a vivid sense of reality could be conveyed in setting the problem of "Korean/K-Literature and World Readers" and an excellent example that makes it possible to examine the next direction on a detailed level. It is also believed that the factors and background in which “Death” images in her poems achieved global achievements by shaping “universal emotions of human" transcending the limits of locality as Korea and Asia poems, can be faithfully explained in the process of unravelling the complex semantic contexts of them. We hope that Korean poetry and Korean literature will be able to come up with specific directions and various visions to move toward the stage of globalization.
