1980년대 김혜순의 시는 이미지의 비재현성이 두드러지고, 시적 주체가 고정되어 있지 않고, 변화하고 진행 중인 상태로 나타난다. 정동은 정서의 증대와 감소를 수반하는 모든 관계 속에서 흐르고 발현되는 감각적인 흐름으로 이 글에서는 정동(affect) 이론에 대한 다양한 논의를 참조하여, 1980년대 김혜순 시에 나타난 비재현적 이미지와 주체의 존재론적 변이를 고찰하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. Ⅱ장에서는 김혜순 시를 분석하기 위한 이론적 기반으로 ‘정동’의 주요 특성인 ‘비재현성’, ‘즉접성’, ‘미결정성’을 설정하여 연구의 분석틀을 구체화하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 1980년대 김혜순 시에서 즉접의 효과를 강화하는 장치들을 살펴보고. 그의 텍스트가 독자를 정동적 조율 상태로 이끌어, 정동을 ‘감각’하는 주체로 위치시키고 있음을 밝혔다. Ⅳ장에서는 시적 주체의 ‘미결정성’을 중심으로 주체와 대상 사이에서 발생하는 정동적 상호작용을 규명하였다. 김혜순의 시적 주체는 ‘자기 소멸’의 감각을 통해 고정된 자아를 부정하고, 대상과 새로운 가능성과 관계를 지속적으로 탐구한다. 이러한 정동적 상호작용은 1980년대 억압적 사회 구조 속에서 주체가 기존 질서와 경계를 넘어 새로운 방식으로 세계와 관계를 재구성할 가능성을 제시한다. 한편, 김혜순의 시는 정동적 관계가 현실의 억압적 질서에 의해 포섭되거나 제약받을 수 있다는 한계 또한 드러내어 정동적 세계가 현실 속에서는 쉽게 구현되기 어렵다는 인식을 보여준다. 이 글은 정동 이론을 이미지의 비재현성과 시적 주체의 미결정성을 중심으로 적용하여, 김혜순 시에 나타나는 독특한 언어 구조와 감각적 체험의 과정을 구체적으로 규명했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 1980년대 김혜순의 시에서 정동이 작동되는 방식은 단순한 시적 형식의 실험을 넘어, 시의 이미지와 주체를 통해 고정된 정체성과 의미 체계를 탈피하고, 새로운 감각적 경험과 관계를 모색하는 문학적 실천으로 평가할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
The poetry of Kim Hyesoon in the 1980s is characterized by the non-representationality of its imagery and the fluidity of its poetic subject, which resists fixation and continuously evolves. Drawing on affect theory as developed by Spinoza and further expanded by Deleuze, this study examines the non-representational imagery and the ontological transformations of the poetic subject in Kim Hyesoon's works. The findings are as follows: Chapter II establishes the theoretical framework of this study by identifying three key characteristics of affect ― non-representationality, immediacy, and indeterminacy ― and applying them as analytical tools. Chapter III investigates the devices in Kim Hyesoon's poetry that amplify the effect of immediacy, demonstrating how her texts position readers as subjects who physically “sense” affect by engaging in a state of affective attunement. Chapter IV delves into the concept of “indeterminacy,” focusing on the affective interactions between the poetic subject and objects. Through the sensation of “self-dissolution,” the poetic subject in Kim Hyesoon's works negates fixed identities and persistently explores new possibilities and relationships with objects. These affective interactions reveal the potential to reconstruct relationships between the subject and the world in the oppressive sociopolitical context of 1980s Korea, challenging established orders and boundaries. However, Kim Hyesoon's poetry also illustrates the limitations of affective processes, as they can be co-opted or constrained by repressive societal structures, highlighting the difficulties of realizing affective worlds within reality. This study holds significance in applying affect theory to the dimensions of non-representational imagery and the indeterminacy of the poetic subject, systematically analyzing the unique linguistic structures and sensory experiences in Kim Hyesoon's poetry. The functioning of affect in Kim Hyesoon's 1980s works transcends mere experimentation with poetic forms, offering a literary praxis that seeks new sensory experiences and relationships beyond fixed identities and meaning systems.
