Abstract
In modern society, the mental health issues of college students are emerging as an important social issue that threatens the quality and public nature of higher education as a whole. This study aims to justify the institutionalization of mindfulness-based liberal arts classes from a constitutional perspective, assuming that it is an effective educational strategy that can respond to this mental health crisis. To this end, the structure of the right to health and the right to education under the Constitution was analyzed, the Mental Health Welfare Act and the national mental health policy were reviewed, and the educational effects of domestic and international mindfulness classes and policy cases were compared and analyzed. The results of the study confirmed that mindfulness classes can function as a means of realizing constitutional rights and an innovative model of liberal arts education beyond a simple psychological technique. Accordingly, universities need to institutionalize mindfulness classes in liberal arts courses, and national policy support should also be provided in parallel.
